Now one can UNMENTION themselves from Twitter, here's how.

Twitter's 'unmention' feature will now let all users to leave out themselves from unwanted tweets or will let them have more control over their mentions . Twitter has introduced new feature for all users where they have the option to “unmention” themselves from a conversation or thread that they do not want to be a part off. 


The new Unmentioning feature was announced on monday by Twitter. It is designed to let you “take control of your mentions and leave a conversation” in which you no longer want to be involved. This feature of Twitter is supported on all platforms and devices, including Twitter for iOS.

To exclude yourself from a conversation, tap the three dot menu on the tweet in question. After which you'll see the new option "to leave this conversation". Once you click the option. Twitter explains that leaving a conversation will do the following things.

Untag username, Stop future mentions, Stop notification.

The time you confirm that  you want to leave the conversation, your username will untag from all tweets in that conversation.

This is one of the latest feature Twitter has introduced to curb abuse on the platform. The company has stated that the motive behid this rolling out this feature is to help users remove themselves from  undesirable attention.
